Ashes & Bones

Impossible to calculate the human cost
Or navigate this moral maze
Impossible to not believe that every hope is lost
As we gaze across the ruins of the day

Thrown into the fire underneath the bombs
Digging for the bodies in the rubble of their homes
Where there used to be a nation
Now theres only ashes and bones

There will be no justice from the river to the sea
The words we're not allowed to say
For a land that never will be free

This land was carved up long ago abandoned by the west
Occupied divided beaten and oppressed
Now everything is broken now there's nothing left
Now they bomb the hospitals and now they kill the press

And the eyes the world are upon them
But they choose what they don't want to see
All the atrocities done in their name - where's the humanity?

There will be no justice from the river to the sea
The words we're not allowed to say
For a land that never will be free

And our gutless leaders sit on their hands
Stand on the sidelines politely demand
Show some proportion show some restraint
But they won't lift a finger until it's too late
And so many wrongs can never be right
And nothing in history gives them the right
To pass on the genocide pass on the hate
While the innocent die at the hands the state
Now the victims turn into the murderers
Drunk on the taste of revenge
This is the cycle of violence
It's starting over again
Over again
Over again
Over again
