Young and free

Where did the time go, slipping through our hands?
Why do we rush to grow up so fast?
Longing for skinny-dipping under moonlit beams
Music blaring loud at the swimming hole dreams

Spiked iced tea and laughter in our lungs
Chasing each other through fields where we belong
Bicycles whizzing under where the hot sun's clear
Rollerblading 'til twilight in the warm summer air

Nights of hide and seek where stars are our only light
I look back, wishing I was young for just one more night
Sleepovers so loud, so magical, so wild
What do I wish for, nights when I was just a carefree child?

Skipping stones on water, our endless game
Handwritten notes and carved out names
Climbing trees to peak beyond the skies
In our bubble of youth where nobody told the rights

Butterflies dancing as we ran through the dark
Catch the river flow with racing jaws from the start
We didn't know back then how fleeting it'd be
Those nights of freedom, those nights of gleam

Nights of hide and seek where stars are our only light
I look back, wishing I was young for just one more night
Sleepovers so loud, so magical, so wild
What do I wish for, nights when I was just a carefree child?
