This Old Barn

There's a barn back in my home place
And there I spent most of my childhood days
And every time I step beneath those old boards
The dust starts dancing and I'm reminded of the times

Though the paint is wearing and the posts are leaning
The love that it was built on stands firm
Though someday I know this old barn won't stand for long
The memories can never be teared down

It's been in the family for generations
And now it's getting up in its years
Now it's empty, alone, and cold
I guess that's how life goes
So many lessons learned and I haven't forgotten one

Though the paint is wearing and the posts are leaning
The love that it was built on stands firm
Though someday I know this old barn won't stand for long
The memories can never be teared down

I've never been good at goodbyes
This barn takes me back to a different time
Oh the joy to go back and do some things twice
Just to hear daddy in the loft play his fiddle one more time

Though the paint is wearing and the posts are leaning
The love that it was built on stands firm
Though someday I know this old barn won't stand for long
The memories can never be teared down
The memories can never be teared down
