Testing Time

A man was told, time's subjective
To test this, was his objective
A cave, he told the collective
Is where I will go and test it
Around this place, be protective
The years go by, the tribe forgets
Land got conquered, gold to collect
Collectors find a document
About what had become a legend
So they wanted to go check it
But earthquakes changed the geographic
Unable to find the entrance
They got back at night with lanterns
And scared children with ghost vengeance

Centuries passed since he entered
Generations change the standard
From fearful village wealth hoarders
To fearless outdoor explorers
Looking for city resources
Further beyond the past borders
Had pickaxes and had porters
Discovered a river system
Got some canoes, on a trip then
They floated past caves and listened
There were sounds of someone singing
Wasn't taught in their upbringing
Singing underground cave dwellers
A story from the tale tellers
Old man thought time was person bound
They laughed and went towards to sound
A man in his young forties found
Said he had been there twenty years
With the man speaking it was clear
The old accent, he's not from here
It's now two thousand after christ
Entered when the great pyramid rised
Didn't lie, time ain't real, they realized
