Transit of Venus

He woke up Thursday thinking of her
And by the weekend truly loved her
In record time
She took over that dark corner of his mind
In a room they soon would leave behind

She took him by the water Monday
The place her father brought her one day
He was afraid
So he lept off of the pier into the bay
Just to see if she would let him float
Float away

"What's the worst that could happen?"

Just when he thought he'd hit rock bottom
She pulled him out in time for Autumn
He was alive
And bewildered by the fire in her eyes
But the rescue took them by surprise

"There's something between us
Since the transit of Venus"

"There's something between us
Since the transit of Venus"

You brought me round to your seaside town
When you kissed me there, burned the whole place down
We parted ways for a hundred days
Watch the city burn and we fanned the flames

"There's something between us
Since the transit of Venus"

"What's the worst that could happen?

"There's something between us
Since the transit of Venus"
