Ballad of Master Jan

In the shady years of contempt, when gold became a god
There was a man, who stood and said "We have to stop!
We must read the Holy Bible, listen to the word of Lord
We won't get for money heaven as reward!"

Women, children, every men, all young and old
Listened to the word of our Master, fulfilling what he told

His words're brightening like a flame
Revolution in God's name!
We are poor, our hearts are clear
Wealthy priests, have you even been near?
We will praise the Lord of skies
In our speech we'll sing in choirs
For our brothers we will care
Bringing our goods to be shared

But in Rome some noble bishops started to ask "How did he dare?!
That is heresy, may he come to say 'I erred'"
And the king sent him to Constance "Go there, I will protect you"
Master hit the road, to say all that he knew

Who stands against the faith
Taught by the Holy Church
May his life be lost at the stake!

And Master Jan will not deny what he once said
Even though he knows it'll lead him to his death
Servants're bringing lot of timber
"That's the heretic!" whispered the crowd
King, why don't you speak up?! It's time to cry aloud!

Do you think that's a fair game?!
Revolution burned in flames!
We'll pass on his words and fame!
Nothing again'll be the same!
We'll fight, we're still alive
Our nation will survive
For your sins you'll have to shrive
Without your lies we can thrive!
