House of Changing Faces

There is a name on every door
There is a story in every room
And when you can't go back no more
You know your life has been resumed

In the basement lives a sometimes clown
Who works with a sometimes queen
Makin' movies in our garage
In the backyard but they're seldom seen

And the friend who gave them space
I remember her will, I see her face
Understanding and kind
She had a way of preying on your mind

It wasn't easy when I think about it
Living in the house of changing faces
I still have the tracks to remind me
What life was like high and wasted
When I wanted to die

All togther they share the rooms
I used to know that I once used
To dream my days and ease the pain
Poison the spirit while I remained

Oh yes, I used to crawl
In agony along those halls
Lookin' forward to nothing more
Than another shot behind those doors

It wasn't easy when I think about it...

There is a name on every door
There is a story in every room
And when you can't go back no more
You know your life has been resumed

It wasn't easy when I think about it...
