Peace

Peace

do you remember when you were young
you were taught the golden rule:
"do to everybody else the same
as you'd have done to you."
well I guess the times have changed
they seem so different to me
everybody's selfish now
oh, it's such a tragedy
but I know what I must do:
try to turn this world around
so that every poor lost soul
will someday be found

I want to bring peace to this troubled land
if I can help somebody, let me lend a hand
peace to this troubled land
oh, won't you help me do all I can

only light can drive out the dark
and only love can cure the hate
and God knows if we don't learn this now
soon it will be much too late
don't you know deep down inside
everyone is just the same
we're all part of the family
we share the glory and shame
and you know what we must do:
try to change this sad, sad place
feed and clothe every hungry child
wipe the tears from every face

don't you get tired of hating all the time,
enemies everywhere?
don't you get tired of being afraid
of everybody else out there?
