The Three Billy Goats Gruff

Three little goats went out one day, Duffel and Under and Over
Skipping around, nibbling grass, in amongst the clover.
"This grass is short, it tastes no good (eurrgh!)
It won't make us healthy and strong,
Let's cross the bridge to the other
side where the grass is greener and long!"

Trip trap, trip trap "What's that over head?
Sounds like dinner's on its way" the troll jumped up and said.
He pulled himself onto the bridge and gave the goat a fright, Boo!
Poor little Duffel bleated with fear... trembling at the sight...

"It's not really me you want-I'm all skin and bone,
My brother is bigger and better to eat so leave me well alone."
So off he went across the bridge to munch on the long green grass,
Leaving the hairy troll to wait for a goat who was bigger to pass.

Trip trap trip trap "What's that over head?
Sounds like dinner's on its way" the troll jumped up and said.
He pulled himself onto the bridge and gave the goat a fright, Boo!
Poor little Under bleated with fear... trembling at the sight...

"It's not really me you want - I'm all skin and bone
My brother is bigger and better to eat so leave me well alone."
So off he went across the bridge to play with his baby brother,
Leaving the hairy troll to wait (Shhhhh!) to try to catch another.

Trip trap trip trap "What's that over head?
Sounds like dinner's on its way" the troll jumped up and said
He pulled himself onto the bridge and gave the goat a fright, Boo!
The big goat Over lowered his head and ran with all his might...

He tossed the troll into the air with one almighty smash-
The bridge was safe and the troll was gone (Hooray!)
With a gurgle and a splash!
So if you cross a wooden bridge, be sure to be light on your feet
You never know who's hiding below ... waiting for something to eat!
