I was born Joanie to a Noble father and a mother
A presentation was at hand
But the Wicked witch Maleficent
Who had not been invited then
Decided that revenge must now be planned

She said that at a spinning wheel
One day I'd surely die
Before the sunset when I reach 16

But three fairies heard the curse she made
Three fairies who were not afraid
And dared to save the day, they interfered
A shortcake is a shortcake they always told me

And shortcake could be my only name
They cared for me each day and when they hold me
A shortcake is what they saw me in me
So shortcake I became

They said I wouldn't die
While I was at a spinning wheel
The way Maleficent had just fortold

And the prophecy that I would keep
Would be too simply fall asleep
And never through eternity grow old

A shortcake is a shortcake they always told me
And shortcake could be my only name
They cared for me each day and when they hold me
A shortcake is what they saw me in me
So shortcake I became

They said only true love can break the spell
A kiss from your true love and all be well
All be well

And so it came to be
And at 16 as they told me
I fell asleep the way they said I might

And I slept until I felt the kiss
My Chachi had come
My spell is missed
And true love grew and true love make all things right

A shortcake is a shortcake they always told me
But a Sleeping Beauty is what I became
And now that I've got my Chachi to hold me
The love we found together
Puts the shortcake to shame
