Carolina Free

When the sun came up in Carolina
It was pretty as can be
I'd wondered if I'd ever see it shining
When we moved from Tennessee
We have moved from Tennessee

But the pines stand tall in the Piedmont hills
And the dew is just as fine
On the ground that God has given to me
And I'm going to make it mine
Yes I'm going to be just fine

When I took my walk I saw geese fly over
Just like pilgrims going home
As they sailed o'er the trees
In the morning sky
I knew that God was on His throne
And it was time for me to move on
To the place where God has called us
To shepherd the shepherds to be

With my wife and my son
We have just begun
To live community
And be Carolina free
Carolina free
We're Carolina free
