The Times Are A Staying

Everyone wants to be, the one who gets to be.
The one who finally sets you straight.
But I have set you first, and I have set you worst.
And you said, you were just
On your way out.
And everybody bow your head, 'cause everybody else is dead.
And that usually sends the mood south.
The naysayers all run, the work here has been done.
And I see they finally got their hands on you.
And everybody's saying, these times are a staying,
Exactly where they've been.
Nobody's walking, everybody's coming in.
I don't know where we're going,
I think that it's time to begin.
Some dreams lie in bed, and some dreams lie ahead.
And some dreams just lie to get their way.
The best part's just got worse,
The real part's got rehearsed.
And you said, you were just,
On your way out.
Some men just have plans, and some men just have hands.
And some men just have a way with words.
They smile through their gold teeth,
But cancelate their needs.
And I see they finally got their hands on you.
But everybody's saying, these times are a staying, exactly where they've been.
Nobody's walking, everybody's coming in.
I don't know where were going.
I think that it's time to begin.
Everybody's saying that it's time to come in, but I've been here before, scooting me in.
And I don't want to get a late start.
Can't make this up, and fill my own cup,
But I lost my eye, and I can't see much.
And all of a sudden, I'm stumbling in the dark.
