The Way It Is

I'm sitting here in this city bar.
In front of me my first bottle budweiser beer.
It's half past ten this evening,
the sport channel on this fucking T.V.
A shelter from the storm
all the people who come in are wet from the rain.
I don't wanna be somewhere else,
somwhere else as in this bar tonight.

Then I dont believe what I see, unimaginable for me.
There's a girl coming in, a girl I've never seen before.
"Do you got fire for me guy, to light up my cigarette? My
lighter's wet from the rain and maybe the cigarettes too."

If I could only be Madonna.
If I could only be so cool like a star.
I draw a shaky breath,
"I've only fire in my heart", I say to her.
"But it belongs to you
It's the only thing I have", I touch her knees.
I don't wanna be somwhere else
Somwhere else as in these bar tonight

"My cigarettes are wet" she says "and there's no vending machine here, I guess.
Wait here, I'll be shortly back, with love in my blue eyes."
I'm waiting since days. Confusion!
She isn't coming back in this bar,
maybe she has found her love in another side of town.

REFRAIN
Today's another day in bliss:
The way it is- that's the way it is!
Contorted with pain, I'm waiting in vain,
but that's ok, It's something to forget

Today's another day in bliss:
The way it is- that's the way it is!
I live apart from my guardian angel,
but that's ok, it's something to forget
