Tiger Raised In the Southland

My folks said boy
Get an education
So I packed my bags
And I took a four year vacation
A few mistakes and thousands of dollars a year
Is what I spent to have the time of my life up here

Now some people say boy take that Tiger Paw
Off of your hat
'Cause there's people 'round here
Who take offense
To things like that
They claim everyone's not a Tiger fan
Well, I don't think they quite understand

Well, I'm a small town boy
Grew up in Carolina
But, I wanted more
Than just your typical nine-to-fiver
So I took the good times
Threw in a little knowledge
I called it college

So proudly here I am
I'm a Tiger raised in the Southland

It means more to me
Than just a football game
It's who I am
It's from where I came
It's the classes I missed
Because of all the beer I drank
It's the nights I remember
And all the ones I can't

Now don't get me wrong
Come the last game of the year
I'll have the best seats in the house
Sittin' up high on the hill

Yellin' Fight Tigers Fight
And sayin' every word to the Tiger Rag
But that ain't the reason
I wear this Tiger Paw up here on my hat

I'm a small town boy
Grew up in Carolina
But, I wanted more
Than just your typical nine-to-fiver
So I took the good times
Threw in a little knowledge
I called it college

So proudly here I am
I'm a Tiger raised in the Southland

It's about the Esso
Early on a Thursday night
Me and the guys all head downtown
To see the girls lookin' right

Maybe it's all the crazy times
I spent hangin' out
With those wild and crazy fraternity brothers of mine
Like a late night dance on the roof
That caught the attention of a certain officer named Gooch
Maybe it was skinny dippin' in the reflection pond
We got caught
But that was half the fun

For us small town boys
Who grew up in Carolina
We wanted more
Than just your typical nine-to-fiver
So we took the good times
Threw in a little knowledge
We called it college

So proudly here I am
I'm a Tiger raised in the Southland

You may never understand
But I'll always be a Tiger raised in the Southland
