This Is War

Been picking up sticks to burn her enemies down.
I do what I can for her.
I slaughtered her a cow and I'm a vegetarian.
That's not man enough for her, not bloody enough.
I used my chemistry skills to bake her every pill she could swallow.
She prayed to god and she called me a sinner, science isn't the way to win her.
She gave me every disease under the sun before she ran for another town.
My body reacts to her.
How bodies react to her.

She's facing due north when she's facing due east,
She's got parking violations dating back to '63
She's got a ladder by the stairs,
She uses it to sharpen her teeth.

We fear for our lives around her.
We fear for our lives.

The demons are alive in her head that's why we have to make sense of every tiny word that she says.

She stole my twenties from me.
My face has never looked so thin.
I hide behind facial hair but people aren't stupid, they can see what I'm doing.
I'm trying to pretend I won this war between my brain and her brawn,
But this is a war I won't be coming home from.

Now I'm lying through my teeth again.
It's a trait she taught me well.
If truth had been told from the start I'd have never seen hell.
Will someone get a message to my father and say "Dad I won't be coming home I'm gonna take this all the way",
My kids will understand someday.
My kids will understand someday.
