Awake

Have you ever dreamed about death?
About what it may be like in the end?
Of how your soul will journey (if at all) into the after life?
Into the after life, I don't know

Do I dream now, or am I really dying?
I dream of a great ship, high above the ocean
A great clipper ship, no, a type of warship
All grand and monstrous

High up in the sky, sailing amongst the clouds
The sails are full with air and I ride atop the aft deck
Watching the mountains and seashore below me
I can hear the crashing of waves against the rocks

It is nighttime, a humongous moon lies on the horizon
Oh so full and bright
A tunnel, a passage, carved for our purpose
Leads through the clouds into the vortex of the moon

The ship is alive with activity; many, many persons occupy the deck
I am flying to the crow's nest; there are others there:
A pretty girl, an old man, a group of young boys
A strange lady with no face is staring at me and I wish to leave

I'm looking down now, I see more souls joining
All rising from the shores below
I am now at the front of the ship
Watching as the moon gets closer and closer
The lights get brighter, my anticipation is growing

But it has stopped
The ship is gone
The moon is gone
And I am awake

I am awake
I am awake
I am awake
I am awake
