Last Sunday Afternoon

Pitter-patter went the raindrops last Sunday afternoon
As I was walking round the zoo with my Gran and Auntie Sue
"Better put your hood up" said Granny with a frown
As the sky got even darker and the rain came pouring down

Splish – splash - gurgle! Went the water down the drain
As we huddled in the reptile house to keep out of the rain
"The water's up to my wellies!" Cried Auntie with a squeal
And as I watched the water rising I was sure I saw a seal!

Whoosh! Went the tidal wave that swept us off our feet
As I floated down the river I thought, "This is quite a treat!"
"Grab my hand!" yelled Granny from the branches of a tree
So I climbed up with the monkeys and a cheeky chimpanzee!

Pitter-patter went the raindrops last Sunday afternoon
As we floated out to sea with all the animals from the zoo
"Bonjour!" cried a fisherman, "Welcome all to France!"
Auntie Sue was seasick and Granny did a dance!

Out came the sunshine last Sunday afternoon
As we sat onboard a ferry eating jelly with a spoon
"Thanks" said the keeper as she waved us all goodbye
As we left I felt a raindrop plopping from the sky!

Pitter-patter went the raindrops last Sunday afternoon
As I walked around the zoo with my Gran and Auntie Sue
"Better put your hood up" said Granny with a frown
As the sky got even darker and the rain came pouring down
And the rain came pouring down!
