Red 'n' Yella
RED 'N' YELLA
Down, take it down, down, down n' head for the swamp
Swa-swa-swa-amp
And there's no hay-bails in the city, there's no bonfires neither
Instead you got those cold marble statues, with the night-time
Their poe-faces starin' back at yah
I'm not interested in seein' how boring you're life was (and I wanted to go in, for a swim)
In the streets of the foggy air,
(But my fear of sea-creatures stopped me)
With the gulls squawkin'
Then I saw that girl, met her on the southside, after paddlin' the boat... to the southside of the lay-e-ake
She was wearin' black silk clothing, with padding on each shoulder
Oh God!... and crimson detail, the water was warm
She put her arm around me, so I paddled
And we read the notes (in the boat, of course)
About this actual stuff
I'd been havin' dreams about her
White walls billowin' smoke, when we should have been jammin'
I saw this rare delight & give it a choke
You could have been, more honest
Blug-lug-a-dug, all this time... change the bulb
On the streets of the foggy air
The gulls squawkin', like hungry dogs
Fill the decanter, woof-woof woof-woof-woof
Your lace glove and your velvet cloak
Go on... shinin' like the twilight, on your ivory dagger
Turn the heatin' up, turn it up
And the 'haunted tenements of the rain'
Turn the lights down
Billowin' sounds,(take your shoes off) echoein' from street to... street
Gimme a smoke...
And you can build your own (smoke-moke-moke-moke)
Constructed out of your Garden of Eden
Guard the birds and bears
Rain the colours of stars, in red 'n' yella
While behind that stands a Guardian angel
Beneath the God's all-seein' eye
And thus inspiring others to build there own
And there's a path that links them, to the place where we first met
And the pillars and stations at the cross
Swimmin' down, down down down
Down, take it down, down, down n' head for the swamp
Swa-swa-swa-amp
And there's no hay-bails in the city, there's no bonfires neither
Instead you got those cold marble statues, with the night-time
