What It's Like

We stood there in the garden among the birds and trees
Enjoying paradise, the world was at our knees
A perfect freedom there, all things were ours to choose
All but a single tree was given for our use

But why else would it be there?
Look how far we have come
It's time to take that leap now
Let the dream come undone

And you will never know
Until you try
No you will never know
Just what it's like

We danced like mad men there
Throwing back our heads until our minds were full of light
No cause for concern as we drank the cup of bliss
Sparks of electricity flew off with every kiss

Pushing for fulfillment
Who promised it would be sweet?
Were we not to test love
Could it run so deep?

And you will never know
Until you try
No you will never know
Just what it's like

We both were naked as the day when we were made
No shame or modesty our debts had all been paid
The earth was heaven until innocence was lost
The whole world changed for us the day the line was crossed

But where else could we go?
And what else could we do?
They say to live is to suffer
The climb is worth the view

And you will never know
Until you try
No you will never know
Just what it's like
