The Puppy and the Leaf

If the foolish and the fun
Disregards someone
What remains of their absence is
Someone I once knew
The only time she cries
As he stood a special in your eyes
Seeming somewhat less delicious
Than was once described
Some things happen gradually

Hardly noticing
Two mothers dying suddenly
Slowly hardening
What we say or do
In a field of snow
Where our puppy goes
Just a look at me
And then you know
The measure of our love

Just think of me as scared
Or somewhat less welfare
Always trying to remember to
Be somewhat less impaired
When our seasons rarely go
Slowly, quietly
Imperfections come to know

My life as typical
Of a perfect crap
As the moments pass
You turn to me and laugh
Hope this always In our heart will last
Standing in the way
