Redwing

I heard the voice of the Redwing
Crying in the air
I turned around to look for her
But she just wasn't there

I heard the name of my baby
I was crying it all night long
I turned around to reach for her
But she's already gone

Oh the redwing, she's a pretty thing
I like the way she cries
But most of all I like the way she sings
And just like my baby, she's done come and gone
I wish that redwing and my baby would come home

First time I saw the redwing, winter was comin' on
She was flying high and headed south
So free and all alone

The last time I saw my baby
She was walkin' out in the summer rain
I tried my best to keep her here
But then the winter came

Oh the redwing, she's a pretty thing
I like the way she cries
But most of all I like the way she sings
And just like my baby, she's done come and gone
I wish that redwing and my baby would come home

I heard the voice of the Redwing
Crying in the air
No matter how I search for her
She just isn't there

I hear the name of my baby
I been cryin' it all night long
But she's flyin' high and headin' south
So free and all alone

Oh the redwing, she's a pretty thing
I like the way she cries
But most of all I like the way she sings
And just like my baby, she's done come and gone
I wish that redwing and my baby would come home

Oh the redwing, she's a pretty thing
I like the way she cries
But most of all I like the way she sings
And just like my baby, she's done come and gone
I wish that redwing and my baby would come home

I wish that redwing and my baby would come home
I wish that redwing and my baby would come home
