The Shape and Colour of Things Gone Blind

The nightmares we love the most
And photographs of flower ghosts
Early in the morning slumber off a flight of stairs
And spent a century on the road
With a congregation of singing toads
Will we ever see them?
Will we ever take them down?
The paper petals I leave behind
They separate as I put on rewind
The quiet and the cold
Wayward in a blinking eye

The young dividers have left the ground
Higher and higher with every sound
Will we ever see them?
Will we ever take them down?
And now the reef is caving in
Under the water and peoples' skin
In a fountain by the far side
Drowning in machinery
I can't remember, in my mind
The shape and colour of things gone blind
Will we ever see them?
Will we ever take them down?
