Another Day

The room turned cold and still
And silence filled the air
Your eyes remained wide open
Yet vacant, cold and unaware
It seemed like any ordinary day
It rained for a while until the clouds all passed away
Then the sun broke through a gap between the curtains
And played upon your face

I watched all night for hours, you never knew that I was there
I stayed there till the end, until you disappeared
And I wonder if I'll miss you in the days that follow these
'Coz it seems that there are few things worth remembering

And the days and years rolled by
I hardly spared a thought for you
Though it seems quite reprehensible
It is God's own honest truth
And now and then I feel a kind of emptiness
And I wonder where you are
I'd like to reach outside myself and touch you
But you seem so very far
And every time I think about the times we used to fight
I get a sense of what I've lost and what I never had
It's too late for these regrets, no sense lamenting my neglect
I only wish that I'd wept then, for just one moment

I watched all night for hours, you never knew that I was there
I stayed there till the end, until you disappeared
And I wonder if I'll miss you in the days that follow these
'Coz it seems that there are few things worth remembering
Another day
Another day
Another day
Another day
