Ploughshare V. Earth

Mirrored glass and eyes of blue and black remind this mind that nothing lasts
Reflect the fires in your room at night, the hope; the fear of flight
Midwestern plain surveyed and primed, go dot these fields with drops of time
Install the meaning in this barren place; a passing glimpse of grace, we'll see your face
A ploughshare that split the earth and sowed more seeds than hope and I could grow
Let's take it out tonight and raise it up, a sculpture not to trust
Assess the damage after two, as I'm left here drinking in my living room
Telling all the stories that I never said or ever quite got right until tonight

The frost of the morning it burns off with every syllable I leave
Hanging in the frigid expanse amongst the people I meet
And dawn breaks upon us with fury, warmth, and blindness as it splits the spell
It cracks the shell
As we collapse on ourselves and dissolve into these fiery fields

Always know you'll never die alone
Always know I meant to make it home
Always be a soldier for yourself and no one, yourself and no one else
Always know you'll be the last thing I think about on the moment that I die
Always be a soldier for yourself and no one, yourself and no one else
Yourself and no one else
