The Cat and the City

When his ship comes in
I'm not sure he will let me go with him down to
the docks

Details I've missed
With silent frustration he holds the remote control

When the city closes in
On us he has raised both his arms in surrender

If no one will remember him
Who will remember me?

If no one was good enough for him
Why the hell would I be?

And as far as the city cat knows
The city is the whole world

I have to watch his deconstruction
Night after night I reach for a solution

All I wanted to say, all try to say is
It will be allright, I have been there, get through it

But I think it's jusst a total waste of time
'cause neither the cat nor the city will listen
And understand

He is leaving
I am losing him
