The Raven

You came to perch on my windowsill
Your wing is sore
No high flying anymore, my raven
I asked myself in tears, have you flown before?
No answer - did you hear, hear me?

I know that you want your food
But do you want a field or just a grain?
You limped a long dark way
But do you want full light or just a flame?

I do not pity you
This wound will heal
Myself, I am lost, do you want me
Or can't you fly from my window, ever pain?
And now the blood has flown from your mind
You wing is strong
You can fly long ways, my raven

I know that you came for food
But now your hunger's stilled, what's left to do?
The cold is passed, all cracks are white
And the future's bright
For one as free as you

Now, you are free again
To be wild again
Go and spread your wings in the washing rain and feel
Go and spread your wings in the washing rain and feel
Go and spread your wings
And feel
If you remember me, sometimes sing at the window where I'm dying
