Billy the Squid
Billy the Squid walked into the room
A hush fell over the crowd
The piano player moved to a minor key
And he did not play too loud
Billy the Squid looked around the room
With his great big deep sea eyes
Scratched his head with a long tentacle
And to everyone's surprise
He said, "I've lost a sucker and I feel like a dunce
I bought it this mornin' and I only licked it once
It has purdy colors that swirl all around
The last time I saw it I was here in town
And I'm prepared to offer a handsome reward
To anyone who brings my purdy sucker forward
Ten sand dollars and a rock that glows
And a ring that fell off a pirate's nose!"
Billy the Squid walked out of the room
He left a slimy trail on the floor
Everyone breathed a big sigh of relief
When they heard that slammin' door
Billy the Squid spent all afternoon
Putting up posters 'round town
Whenever an outlaw would ask what he was doin'
He'd slowly turn around and say
"I've lost a sucker and I feel like a dunce
I bought it this mornin' and I only licked it once
It has purdy colors that swirl all around
The last time I saw it I was here in town
And I'm prepared to offer a handsome reward
To anyone who brings my purdy sucker forward
Ten sand dollars and a rock that glows
And a ring that fell off a pirate's nose!"
Billy the Squid went back to his home
In the bottom of the ocean deep
He crawled into his giant waterbed
And drifted off to sleep
When he woke up in the mornin' he felt somethin' sticky
On the pillow of his waterbed
When he looked in the mirror he saw his pretty sucker
Stuck to the top of his head
He said, "Well there's my sucker, I guess I'm not a dunce
I bought it yesterday and I only licked it once
It still has purdy colors that swirl all around
Like the pictures on the posters that I put downtown
I guess I'll have to give myself the handsome reward
For bein' the one to bring my purdy sucker forward
Ten sand dollars and a rock that glows
And a ring that fell off a pirate's nose!
A hush fell over the crowd
The piano player moved to a minor key
And he did not play too loud
Billy the Squid looked around the room
With his great big deep sea eyes
