Afternoon Skies

Keep on smiling while you hurry down the road
So much to do before days are getting colder
You keep the spirits high and hands upon the wheel
The world smiles back as if it knows what you are feeling

One morning - wake up! - it's in the middle of your life
Find one good reason for yet one more smile
There's always clouds on a blue summer sky
They're just too far away to catch the eye

And the afternoon skies - they are burning like fire
If you stop for a while - you can waste a few hours
To find comfort in silence - in solitude
Where your mind can wander beyond flesh and blood

What if you're taken before you've finished
Not too surprising - there's noon too soon
Your line of options have soon diminished
So finish up cause we're going home
