Deep Dish

Our lives seem so complete
While there's innocent people strugglin'
Just trying to make ends meet
And just a little bit of help will get them back on their feet
Cause they're embarrassed to beg, but sick of living on the concrete
The upper class they just seem so oblivious
Passing ignorance down to the minds of their little kids
The ones who come from nothing usually succeed the most
And kids who come from something go to school and treat it like a joke
I've got the privelege of laying back and songwritin'
Don't have to deal with food stamps and landlord fightin'
All I gotta do is just to make it through the class
Trying not to fall asleep or makin' sure that I can pass
I'm feelin' sympathy for those who never got the chance
If I had the power, I'd put matters in my own hands
I take a walk around the block in'a pair of one of their shoes, c'mon

The things I've seen
Seem too much
There is trust or me
Like livin' in this world
Is fightin' for the people

A young man gets sent away to fight the war on terror
He gives his Mom a kiss goodbye and then he's gone forever
Coulda got in any school, the kid's a genius
Instead he's overseas fightin' a war completely meaningless
Yo I ain't preachin', I'm just passin' down the shit I've learned
No kids are speakin' up, I took it up as my turn
The people fightin' just deserve some love from everyone
Because it can't be easy livin' off the barrel of a gun
Stick up a peace if you're catching on to what I'm spittin'
And if we're fightin' for no reason, then let's start resistin'
Hard to sleep when you're sufferin' from nightmares
I can't imagine what's goin' through the head at such a young age, it's not fair
These luxuries in life we tend to take advantage
Swear it's just a matter of time until we start to vanish
Right for now nobody knows what this future holds
We're goin' in the wrong direction, war already took it's toll

The things I've seen
Seem too much
There is trust or me
Like livin' in this world
Is fightin' for the people
