Walking Backwards

I sure wish I could turn around
To see what's coming my way
But I don't know what's going down
Until it's yesterday

If I could see what's ahead of me
I'd pay any price
Just a look at tomorrow's news
Would certainly suffice

I know I'm not apropos
Bout time sneaking up on us all
But if I don't know where to go
How can I help but fall?

I might as well close my eyes
Look backwards into the day
The future hides what it implies
And it blinds me anyway

If I could see what's coming next week
I'd make appropriate plans
But I'm falling, and my feet
Can't find a safe place to stand

I know I'm not apropos
Bout time sneaking up on us all
But if I don't know where to go
How can I help but fall?

I've been living my whole life
Stuck here in reverse
And there hasn't been a single doctor
That can take away this curse

You've been with me all this way
And you're walking backwards too
There's really not much to say
Woman, I'd like to thank you

I know I'm not apropos
Bout time sneaking up on us all
But if I don't know where to go
How can I help but fall?
