Dragging of the Carts

We fell about, our laughter heard through plastered walls
Breathing life itself down darkened halls, we ran
With the heat, of a thousand suns we burned
As we rolled and rolled with clearest view
Though the dreams we had may still come true
But for now, we watch the dragging of the carts

The rhythm of all our plans now brings me to my knees
We're colliding strangers on busy streets
First a glance, then look away
But in my mind's eye you're still the same
And your thorns still hold their drops of rain
Memory trades all joy with pain
That life, is carried away in the dragging of the carts

I think about how I accept these choices so bitterly
With pain and guts, remember me
How we rolled and then suddenly, it's frozen with clearest view
Though your far away with one that's true
The dreams we had may still come true
But for now, we watch the dragging of the carts
