A Tree

Are we lying underneath
A swimming pool full of leaves

And are our ankles covered with glass
Appear our hearts like a collage

Of bits and pieces which maybe
Once were falling from a tree

Into that painted hole we used
For going round and round like ghosts

And are the animals we've trapped
Still in those places that are kept

Quite separated from the rest
By fences and guards and kind requests

And tell me is it just the same
For all those humans who might gain

A chance for changing how things go
How I wish for them that they can do so

But I am still lying underneath
That painted hole it's filled with leaves

My ankles are broken my heart came undone
And the century has just begun

I'd rather be up in a tree
So I could tell you all that I see

Not a single ghost but hopefully
All kinds of beings living free
