Leaving Town
Back me up!
And he followed the path leading far from home and family,
leaving previous life behind with tears in his eyes and wondering:
Will he ever walk this road again or is he ticketed on "The Long Walk"?
Why worry about the future, once father said:
"Concentrate the mind on the present moment, my son!"
A lot of "judging eyes" passed him by.
In some of them he even saw contempt
because his clothes were torn and dirty.
People say the dirt spreads on a man's soul.
He remembered the time being just like them,
and then father's words walked across the surface of his memory:
"Concentrate the mind on the present moment, my son!"
Shrouded in newspaper he slept under a bridge. Steps woke him up.
Before him stood a smart, calm man.
Like an elephant's, every step he took was thoughtful, slow and careful.
With the first words the sage released from the vocabulary box,
he drew the boy into the flow of conversation.
Hours passed without him noticing it. But when he did, he realised that he had a friend who would accompany him.
