Lost John
Let me tell you a story 'bout ol' Lost John.
Lost John was a boy that got loose from the chain gang down Louisiana.
Bout sixteen bloodhounds lookin after him.
Sheriff's, deputies everybody else in the
county chasing him down across the swamps.
Lost John outrun the bloodhounds there all night long.
Just blowing towards mornin he looked up through
the trees there and seen the lights from the house.
He didn't know if the people inside were friends or enemies.
So he wanted to go up to the house though and ask them
if he could stay there and get away from the bloodhounds.
Said he was afraid if he did go up there the people might set
their dogs barkin at him or shoot him down with a Winchester rifle.
Here's a story about Lost John.
