Greybeard

Hands are slipping with the clock at fifteen
Hanging for life with so much seen
High in a tower with the water below
With each passing tick trying not to let go

In the water you'll find
Life's been unkind to the slow

Oh greybeard, won't you wait on me
Not quite done you see
Into the clouds I climb
With these heavy hands of time

Scavengers circle for another fall
Short of fruition they make their calls
With doubt's little daggers along the way
They'll pick at those whose dreams fall prey

To their cynical kind
Then it's father time you'll pay

Oh greybeard, won't you wait on me
Not quite done you see
Into the clouds I climb
With these heavy hands of time

The splash signals the soul
It's time to pay your toll

(Instrumental)

Oh greybeard, won't you wait on me
Not quite done you see
Into the clouds I climb
With these heavy hands of time
