God's Green Earth

There's a red clay bank round the fishing hole
A catfish pulling on my best cane pole
Bullfrogs humming my old dog sitting by me
And my grandpa he's up at dawn
Hands in the soil just working that farm
He thanks the Lord as he drops another seed

It's my little piece of heaven on God's green earth
Where the sun shines down on a hard days work
In this here town everybody knows your name
It's just a dot on the map, but it's home to me
Yeah I'm smack dab right where I outta be
And when my day comes you can lay me in that dirt
On God's green earth

Now the homecoming queen I call her my wife
She's sweet on the lips like peach moonshine
And one of these days we'll add to the family tree
And Father O'Donnell at the church where we go
His sermons on Sunday solid as oak
We all join in as the choir starts to sing

It's my little piece of heaven on God's green earth
Where the sun shines down on a hard days work
In this here town everybody know your name
It's just a dot on the map, but it's home to me
Yeah I'm smack dab right where I outta be
And when my day comes you can lay me in that dirt
On God's green earth
On God's green earth

It's my little piece of Heaven on God's green earth
Where the sun shines down on a hard days work
It's my little piece of heaven on God's green earth
Where the sun shines down...

It's my little piece of Heaven on God's green earth
Where the sun shines down on a hard days work
In this here town everybody knows your name
It's just a dot on the map, but it's home to me
Yeah I'm smack dab right where I outta be
And when my day comes you can lay me in that dirt
Oh when my day comes just lay me in that dirt
On God's green earth
On God's green earth
On God's green earth
God's green earth
