Washington DC (Live in Washington DC, Solo)

Um, so I learnt today that, uh, "DC" in Washington DC stands for "District of Columbia"
I-- my whole life I thought it meant something something else and (What?)
We're getting there
Um, well, it was a-- it's been a mixture of things through my life
But um, it's my friend Henry who we're traveling with
It's his first time in America and he asked me that today
And I said with absolute authority, I went
Oh it means "Das Capital"
And then, that was-- so that was the most recent thing that it meant
And I thought about that for just a second and I realized
Why would the United States of America have a German sub-header to the name of its capital city?
And then I, and, and then I said
Or, well maybe it's "Del Capitale"
Maybe there's more Italians and
And "Del Capitale" is not Italian
And then, when I had to put the state for Washington DC in the, uh, Garmin sat nav, um, that I'm very fond of, uh
I, um, was putting different things in and nothing-- it wasn't finding Washington DC
So I had to ask a real American
And they said the state was "District of Columbia"
And the penny dropped and
