Chemicals Are Our Friends

Eye sockets rubbed till they're raw
Clothes piled high on an unmade bed
Mirrors pushed round on the floor
Revealing a world up above our heads
Limbs without end, shape, or form
Breath that is held till the sun expires
Eyes of a very good friend
Stare into mine as our neurons fire
The skin of the words in our throats
Taste of a land that is deep inside us
Laughter in crystalline shards
Impales out tears as they fly beside us
Sounds that grow out of the walls
Rhythms that fall from the liquid air
Loveliness leaks into every pore
The secrets of life are all huddled here
Poems are graven in blood
Deep in the walls that convulse with memory
All is explained in their words
Till the following day when the words are empty
