Burst and Bloom

Where did I get these blood stained knees?
I don't recall ever bowing down to anyone, or anything
Maybe it all just goes to show
Sometimes your heart doesn't end up where you thought it goes
So it's unknown where to call home

Am I the rotten fruit hanging from my family tree?
Did I plan to reap the harvest long before I ever sewed the seeds?
We don't get to choose when it is we burst and bloom
Years ago I'd disagree, perhaps the world is not so free

When will I be the best I can?
I don't believe wishing ever made a better man, or even could
What if abandoned til I break
Could I repair any wounds I know I would have made
So I might roam this earth alone

Am I the rotten fruit hanging from my family tree?
Did I plan to reap the harvest long before I ever sewed the seeds?
We don't get to choose when it is we burst and bloom
Years ago I'd disagree, perhaps the world is not so free

Am I the rotten fruit hanging from my family tree?
Did I plan to reap the harvest long before I ever sewed the seeds?
We don't get to choose when it is we burst and bloom
Years ago I'd disagree, perhaps the world is not so free
