Mockingbird Diet

Nature's got a way of keeping herself occupied
Of keeping track of who lives and who dies
Not that there's no in between to report
I know a few creatures a lot with a sort
With death defying looks in their eyes

It's not fair to say we know
Just who is who
We can't walk in their shoes
This fire inside of their lines
But it seems like we can say we've been there many times

Just like the mockingbird eats the black widow spider
Piece by piece to eventually hide her
Beneath it's dark feathers and surrounding bones
Heartbeats will accompany more

Gotta a long list to trade
Gotta a lot to hold spiritually
Would you believe we've got a lot of baggage to leave?
Would you believe we've gotta a lot to let go
Simple can at first sound terrible, it can sound so vague
Like "what is there for me to hold on to?"
Well how about a dirt clod?
A ripe strawberry?
A Nightingale song?

The mockingbird eats the black widow spider
Piece by piece to eventually hide her
Beneath it's dark feathers and surrounding bones
Heartbeats will accompany more
Heartbeats will accompany more
