Trespass

I watched them rolling on the waves
from the cliffs at dawn
I felt the sun upon my face
I began to run.
What did we do to bring this evil
On our kind?
I grabbed my children from their beds
And hushed their whines.

As the shaman looked for signals in the sky
While the rest prepared to heed the battle cry.

War painted bodies gathered
Implements of death
While songs as old as time
rang out on everything breath.
I told the four winds
Take my spirit if you must
Then made my peace and walked off
Proudly with the dust.

As the shaman looked for signals in the sky
While the rest prepared to heed the battle cry.

As you try to stomp us out
And forget our names, no.
This land will swallow you
The land and people are one and the same
