Cheque from God

Here's a story
About a poor man
With a heavy heart
And a poor mind.
Selling papers
On the corner of the street,
Begging for food
To anybody he'd meet.

He was cool, he was kind.
He had ideas but didn't have the time.

Then one day,
Just before eve,
Found a dollar bill
On the corner of the street.
Cheque to no one but himself:
"Must have come from God!"
How loud he yelped

He was cool, he was kind.
He had ideas but didn't have the time.
Cheque from God.

Dressed in the finest
Tuxedo and shoes,
He drank downs
In the best bars in town.
He was happy
To have a cheque from God;
Saved his life
And his heart.

He was cool, he was kind.
He had ideas but didn't have the time.
Cheque from God.
