Touch the Sky (Kittinger Complex)

I let go of my balloon
But it wouldn't let go of me
We floated to the outer gates of life
I touched the sky
I saw the world as the divine
God and I spoke candidly of where we'd come to be
He said not to talk politics in pleasant company
I told him I'd been dreaming up a new philosophy
Where everyone's a god but somehow nobody believes
And I don't think he looked away
Sure as hell he made a face
Tole me I'd be getting on my way
Here I thought this was time for us
To let ourselves be understood
So I can look creation in the face
I touch the sky
I saw the world as the divine
Started to feel heavy as he weakened his embrace
He told me, "son, you're just a man who's running out of faith"
Smiled as I turned around and lifted off his hand
And plummeted from heaven
Screaming "Catch me if you can,"
I touch the sky
I saw the world as the divine
I touch the sky
