So Long

I set aboard ship from the port of newcastle
to roam the waters and run from the law
but soon forgot where I was, confusion surrounded so far from the shore,
how did I get there who, what, where, I when?
I awoke among rebels in an opium den,
the very next morning set my oars to the sea,
for I missed my love and I knew she missed me

the fireflies danced in the morning sun,
the pendulum of time stopped as dawn forgot to come
I'll hide in the twilight with my lips in the shadow,
and await for the star that will bring back tomorrow
so long, so long, so long, so long, so long my love so long,
65 years I have been now at sea
miss the smell of the land and the roofs of the city

1000 years I hear no sailors cries
and the lost souls below me they lie,
well I drink all the ocean, I'll drink it all up.
and erase this earth from its bitter cup
so long, so long, so long, so long, so long my love so long,
I drank half the oceans and erased half the seas,
but alas I feel them repeating on me.
