No Horizons

To my knees,
I gave all I could, all this life demands
I walk the road, but I fear the bends
it's hard to please,
once you're down below, you can't expect amends
and noone tells you, where it goes, where it ends

With no horizons to explore
I step outside my office door
and wait for signs that tell me
where to turn to shake the chore

Then the skies have opened up to me
and out... came nothing at all
and I can sense that subtle irony
you hope, you try, you trip, you fall
As the skies have opened up to me
I knew there was no remorse
surprises sometimes happen,
but they can't be forced

I assume, I expect reward, every once in a while
whoever's up there is leaving me in denial
and so I ask, ask myself and everyone I know
why I'm seeking, hunting high and low

With no horizons to explore
this life's a tune without a chord
an epic story that is falling short

Then the skies have opened up to me
and out... came nothing at all
and I can sense that subtle irony
you hope, you try, you trip, you fall
As the skies have opened up to me
I knew there was no remorse
surprises sometimes happen,
but they can't be forced

With no horizons left to find
I take a view inside my mind
so I can leave this tragic life behind
