Beggars

When I hear the change a-rattlin,
I hear them beggars chatterin,
Wantin my money for themselves,
Omitting their honey, too sweet for shelves.

This very day I saw a man,
He claimed his back be broken,
But just in case he didn't fake,
I slipped him one small token.

I don't wanna be your love.
They might just be up to pace,
they are using ancient methods.
Using cups without the lids.

Every day I hear them go,
Wondering which is just for show.
And what if all these signs are lies?
Are those who give fueling false lives?

Today we play in the subway,
Just panhandling a little bit.
"No harm in what we do, no way!"
We sing and dance and play to fit.

I don't wanna be your love.
they are really up to pace,
they are using ancient methods,
Using cups without the lids.

Beggars, they're both near and far,
holding their cups by the helves.
here we are with our guitars
Are we just beggars in ourselves?
