Why do I keep on ending up right where I started
I should know better than to make the same mistakes
I'm holding on to my last ounce of motivation
I'm giving in before I lose all of my strength

But oh god you're looking so appealing in the limelight
you shine so bright that I'm a shadow in your name
but no one seems to live up to your expectations
no one who satisfies and takes away the pain

I don't know if things will be the same
we both have grown but nothing seems to change
lately I don't show the things that I should say
and only time will tell if you forget my name

my friends keep telling me that my whole life's been backwards
can't make a move to comfortable to act my age

I want to know if things will be the same
