Strange Faces

If I had a room to breath in, if I had a burnin' fire
One would surely choke the other, leavin' me the same desire
There's no bottle left half empty, there's no sun can frame my door
If I sailed away forever, never would I find the shore

If I gave my whole collection to a weakness made of man
I would steal it back in darkness, wake up shaking my own hand
And if I ran away from something, I'd be needed for a time
And I'd return to my replacement, finding things that I can't find

If I had a way to feel the things that sit just out of reach
I would touch the strangest faces, till they're not so strange to me

If I had a drink of water, clean enough to cleanse the years
I would drown to learn a lesson, taught somewhere beyond my years
And if I had a wild old mare, it slowly takes me where it does
I would reach the end of there to look up where I was

If I had a way to feel the things that sit just out of reach
I would touch the strangest faces, till they're not so strange to me
I would touch the strangest faces, till they're not so strange to me
