Komorebi

Imagine, just for a moment, a world turned grey
Too dull to admire, and too bland to taste
The pigments and tones have all been erased
Dark have been my dreams of late
Alone in this cold house
My fire won't stay lit
I look out my window
And I can no longer tell where the lake meets the sky
The horizon line ceases to exist
There's only one thing that could make this winter end
I find myself on a shoreline
The waves will crash against my head
And it's times like these I wouldn't mind sinking in
But they've carried me to distant lands
I hear a faint sound
Subtle and curious
Suddenly, tiny explosions from behind my eyes
Magnified through space and time
Vibrant colors sweep through this world
Not dead, merely sleeping
Pouring life into me
I've been here before
I recognize this place
And upon my returning
I am greeted with a smile
With my spirit bursting at the seams
I enter a forest
And as I look around, now I see
You are the light filtered through the trees
