Ghost
there lived a girl in the trees
not far off the coast
she lived off of leaves
she was living like a ghost
she moves in and out of dreams
sometimes she speaks
sometimes she screams
i watch them arranging her limbs
as if it's natural the shape she's in
a crowd gathers in the coldest air
as her body washes up
her hands are swollen animals
her skull an emptied cup
we waited for the rains
to wash her away
but when none came
we turned away
there is a dark place in her heart
there is a dark place in our hearts
please forgive me
not far off the coast
she lived off of leaves
she was living like a ghost
she moves in and out of dreams
sometimes she speaks
sometimes she screams
i watch them arranging her limbs
as if it's natural the shape she's in
a crowd gathers in the coldest air
as her body washes up
her hands are swollen animals
her skull an emptied cup
we waited for the rains
to wash her away
but when none came
we turned away
there is a dark place in her heart
there is a dark place in our hearts
please forgive me
